House Building - Week Eleven, Part 2

We all headed up to the house today so that we could see what had been done.  Nora and Grandma had made oatmeal cookies today and Nora was super excited to have us each eat a cookie on the porch.  They installed the rest of the cabinets and started on the doors and moldings.  Most of the master bath tile was completed, other than grouting the shower.  Here are the photos.

Notice the placement of the hood vent, I don't think that is going to fit inside the stack.  It needs to be about six inches to the left, we'll see how this turns out, it isn't too easy to fix ceiling knockdown.

House Building - Week Eleven, Part 1

I stopped by the house today because the tile guy had some questions.  I was pretty happy to see how much had been done since last Thursday.  The vanities, upper cabinets, doors, trim/molding, and vinyl siding had all been delivered.  The flooring looked beautiful after the staining and sealing.  Here are the photos.

Anneli swinging for the first time!

Tonight for once the weather wasn't ridiculously hot so we walked over to the park.  We put Anneli in the swing for the first time.  Nora pushed her on the swing and Anneli just loved it.  We really enjoy seeing the two of them interact more and more.  Most everyday lately Nora has been asking to hold Anneli, I don't think she ever did that in the first four months after we had Anneli!  Below are some photos and here is a link to a video.

House Building - Week Ten

This morning Heather and I met the floor guys up at the house and pick our the stain for the wood flooring on the main level.  They put a bunch of different stains down so we could get an idea for what they would look like.  The flooring is hickory and we loved the grain so much that we ended up going with a natural stain.  This was also the first time we got to see the cabinets.  Not all were installed but the base units in the kitchen were done.  Things are starting to pick up again after the slower mud and taping stage.  Next week we'll see the rest of the cabinets, the molding and trim, tile work, and probably many others like the garage floor.  It's pretty exciting to see it all come together!  Here are a couple of photos of the cabinets thus far in the kitchen.

House Building - End of Week Ten

Things are starting to pick up again after the long two weeks of taping and mudding.  This past week they sprayed the ceilings with knock-down and on Thursday they primed the walls, the color is pretty close to what our final paint will be.  Friday they laid the wood flooring which definitely is starting to make it feel like we are getting close to finishing.  I also added a photo of the well that was put in a week or so ago. Here are a few photos.

4th of July at the Cabin

We spent the past 4 days up at the cabin to celebrate the 4th of July.  In attendance were Dale and Carol, Todd and Shannon(Baby Mell), Heather and I, Nora and Anneli, and Baylen and Gunnar.  Guest appearances from Christine, Zach and Anne, and Chase and Andrew.

We all had a good time although we were very thankful the cabin had air conditioning as most days were in the high 80's to low 90's!  Here are some photos.

Baylen and Gunnar, the flies ate them alive, you can see one on each of their noses.

House Building - Week Nine

Heather, the girls, and I stopped by the house on our way home from spending the past 4 days at the cabin.

We didn't take any photos but a bunch of additional things have been completed.  Electric has now been brought to the house and the well has been drilled.  The mudding is mostly completed and it is starting to look pretty good.  The siding had been delivered but not installed yet.

Things are moving right along!
