Cabin Weekend

This past weekend was the first time we were able to spend a whole weekend at the cabin.  It was awesome!  Even though we did a bunch of work it still seemed very relaxing.  I've realized how much I miss waking up and seeing the water.  Nora in particular loved every minute of it, perhaps because she was able to stay up both nights past ten or because she got to go swimming, or because she got to see a firefly, or perhaps because she got to have her first smore.  Chances are it was because it was all of the above!

Dale and me working on creating a fire pit.
Nora and Carol work playing.

Fishing.

This was Nora's first time fishing, she was pretty intent.

Dale in front of the lake.

Anneli chewing on Sofie!

Nora had an elaborate game she created with Carol and Heather.  Ask Heather for the detail, it was too complex for me.

Chase with the fish he caught, he loved the net.

Heather and Anneli watching the fishing action.

Nora looking WAY to sweet at Chase.

Yeah, WAY WAY to sweet.

Whose bright idea was it to tell Nora to kiss Chase, must have been Zach!

Chase's reaction post kiss is classic.

All the kiddos.

Of course Nora has to make a face.

Dale browning some marshmallows.

A couple swans landed Sunday morning right in front of the cabin.

The firepit the day after the first fire, there was a tree there originally.  You can still see what remains of the stump.

Here is another angle of the fire pit.

The fishing boat pulled up on the shore.

House Building - Week Six, Part 2

This morning I brought both girls to their well visits at the pediatrician up in Rogers.  Since I was up that way we swung by the house to see what was done on Monday.  By the time I got there both girls were sleeping so I just took two quick photos of the front.  Hopefully I'll be able to stop by later this week to see what was done on the inside as well.  I believe they finished up framing today.

The dormers have been finished as well as the roof over the front porch.

Home Building - Week Six, Part 1

It's been a number of days since I stopped by the house, they've added a number of new things that are helping it visually shape up.  They are slated to finish framing this Tuesday.  They framed out the gables a bit more and finished most of the sheeting.  On Friday they poured the basement slab.  Here are the photos.

Front elevation, they still need to do the front porch.

East side.

North side, Nora seems enthused, I think she said, "can I go back in the car and watch The Cat in the Hat?"

Basement slab!

Insulating foam chair.

Basement bathroom stubs. They will finish the framing down here by Tuesday.

Sump pit, vent, and wet bar stub.

Well stubs and I think another vent, not sure.

Nora now sitting on the shower drain cover.

Arch between foyer and living room/kitchen.

Arched entry into formal dining room where Nora is having the first meal, I think sawdust was on the menu.

200 amp panel in the garage.

House Building - Week Five

Not too much has changed over the last few days other than they sheeted most of the roof.  Actually they finished out a little bit more of the upstairs too.  At this point they are waiting for the basement slab to be poured but that is waiting on getting the well put in and plumbed into the house.  I was told hopefully the slab would be poured on Friday.  Here are the photos.

Sheeting added to the roof, they still need to put on the front porch trusses and finish the gables.

Main floor fireplace has been framed.

House Building - Week Four, Part 3

Today we went up to the house and met Todd and Shannon there so that they could see how things were progressing.  The framers are mostly finished with the truss work.  For the most part all that they have left is the roof over front porch, the basement framing once the slab is poured, and the sheeting.  Here's the photos!

Front of house with trusses.
Heather and Shannon being funny. Funny looking that is.
Back of house.

Side of house, lots of space but a little muddy right now.

Same side of house, just looking towards the back yard.
Utility room plumbing, on the right is the rough in for the wet bar.

Plumbing for the basement guest bath.

Plumbing that connects guest bath with utility room.
Junior suite/craft room and Todd.

Window on Anneli's room.  It appears bigger than we expected, might have to ask the builder about that.  Either that or when they get windows they might have to re-frame that one.

View from just about the top of the stairs on the upper level.  We really like the wider entry into the upper floor.
